Safer Space Policy

This policy applies to the Anarchist Bookfair in London and all associated spaces whether physical or online. We thank the Edinburgh Bookfair Collective for the original text which we have based ours upon.

In order to create an environment to foster free discussion and sharing of ideas, those engaging in abusive or oppressive behaviour will be asked to leave the space.

We encourage all attendees to be aware of this policy and to take autonomous action if they observe people engaging in abusive or oppressive behaviour.

Volunteers will also be on hand to help enact this as needed.

We define the following as abusive behaviours which are not tolerated in this space:

Physical abuse

Verbal abuse

Regarding Transphobia

We would like to reiterate that the Anarchist Bookfair in London will be a zero-tolerance zone for expressions of transphobia.

The organisers stand in absolute solidarity with all trans people, especially the trans women and trans feminine people most targeted.

There is no place for transphobia in our feminism and in the class struggle.

We will not allow transphobic literature of any kind to be disseminated inside the bookfair, and we will not hesitate to remove individuals or groups that breach our policy.

Respect the pronouns and names of those around you. We recognise that mistakes will happen but any deliberate misgendering or deadnaming will not be accepted.

If prior to Bookfair you have any concerns or suggestions, please feel free to contact us.

Your safety and inclusion are our priority.

Accessibility

We want our event to be as inclusive as possible, and have tried to plan the event with accessibility in mind. We tried to design this site to be as accessible as possible; it implements hints for screen readers, simple black font on white background, and other features meant to make this site suitable for people with visual impairment.

If we missed any details, please contact us as soon as possible and we will remedy this. This will take a high priority for us.

If you have any questions or would like to suggest any further accessibility measures, please e-mail us at anarchistbookfairlondon(at)riseup.net
